Top 10 Secrets to Being HAPPY!
ed, most people, most of the time, can choose how stressed or happy, how troubled or relaxed they want to be. Choose to be happy.2. Watch and Read less news. As a recovering news addict, I know this can be difficult because the stock market fluctuates, politicians politic, and sports teams compete. But, most of the time, you don't need the stress. So, just don't watch. I think it was Henry Thoreau who noted that if you've ever read about a train wreck, you understand the principle and don't need to know any more about it.
3. Practice the Attitude of Gratitude. We all have so much to be grateful for. Just thanking the many people who assist us, encourage us, teach us and open doors for us could take all day!
4. Take Time. My dog has taught me much about loyalty, about noticing the sights, sounds, and smells in the yard, about being relaxed and about play. Eat when you're hungry, nap when you need it. Get your ears scratched whenever possible!
5. Laugh everyday. Hear a joke, tell a joke, laugh at yourself, laugh with your friends and family and co-workers. There are very few medicines as powerful as laughter, and I don't think you can over-dose, although it is addicting!
6. Love well. Express your affection, appreciation, friendship and warmth to those around you, and they will almost always respond in the most amazing ways! Be generous--it pays great dividends!
7. Work hard. This one comes as a bit of a surprise, but there is tremendous satisfaction in being competent, and joy in completing our assigned tasks. One of the great sources of happiness is to do work that is worthy of you, and to do it well.
8. Learn something new, everyday. To be happy, most of us must also be growing, expanding, learning and challenging ourselves. Read, listen, adapt and stretch to accommodate new ideas and new information.
9. Use your body as it was designed. Walk and run, stretch, throw things, and lift things. Dance! Exercise is good, but so is making love, mixing up a batch of cookies, or exchanging backrubs. You have a body and it can be either a source of joy, or a source of aches and pains. Your choice.
10. Avoid toxins. I prefer writing positives (things to do) rather than negatives (things to fear), but reality says there are negative people and there are bad chemicals, stressful noises, and unsafe places. Don't go there! Avoid poisons whenever possible. It seems to work out better that way.

On Friendship...
Have you ever stopped to think about how much your friends mean to you? Or experienced a time when you wished you had a friend around to share a happy moment or a sad one? Have you ever noticed that time passes a lot faster with good company? In my life there never comes a day when I don't need someone to talk to or share a human interaction with. That's just how we all function. An experience is only comprehendible by living, breathing beings. We are the only creatures that can think and reason out what we do, how we think, and what we experience. Out of all the creations God has made, we human beings have the power to retain memories, experiences and the ability to speak, learn and interact. We can create, we can discover and we can put real meaning to the words "live and learn". But we cannot do any of these things if we exist alone. Humans interact, to develop, to learn and to experience life and live it.
Some people believe that they can exist alone, that they don't need anyone to exist. That they don't need friends or other people to make it in the world. But that isn't true. Everyone needs someone. We all need to interact. Imagine living alone and recording all your thoughts in a book. Try holding a conversation with yourself for a week without talking to anyone and just writing, typing or taping it. You'll go insane! It's not the same because you need someone else to give you a reply, an opinion, an idea to provoke thought, learning, understanding. All these are what really brings meaning into the experience of living. Even the strongest people need other people in their lives, otherwise what is there to be strong for? Friends are people who have your best interest at heart, loving family, brothers, sisters, classmates, people you grew up with, traveled with, laughed and cried with. All the people around you are there for a reason so don't cut them off. You'll just end up hurting yourself. I'm saying that out of experience.
So in other words, everyone needs a friend. Nobody can go through life alone. So reach out, talk to some one, and communicate. Appreciate your friends and do everything you can to keep them. Never take them for granted because it’s the friends you make in life that make it worth living. Cherish every moment.

Do good guys really finish last? - UA&P
It is depressing to know that even if you try your very best, it is still not enough and you will still end up the last because there will always be people better than you. But it would be far more upsetting when you find out the only reason they have reached the top is because of their dishonesty and deceptions. No matter how hard you try continuing with your honest ways, they will always win. It makes you think twice if you would also succumb to that just to win. If only real life was like that of a kid when you can just tell your teacher or your parents about your dishonest peer. But that’s not how it works in real life (adult life?). What do you think? What would you do?

Bake sale: Happy pastries!
Hey there readers! Thank you so much for supporting our cause and read
ing our post
s! I'd like to take this moment to share the happiness that we, bloggers4acause, have been doing at UA&P. As the blog is aimed to raise funds for Make A Wish Foundation, we came up with a way to raise funds and share happiness while at it too.
es have proven that food can definitely have happy effects on people. Knowing this, we decided to put up a bake sale in UA&P! Home made goodness and healthy sweet snacks that brighten up anyone's day were sold and whipped out in 3 short days. Banana cake, chocolate chip cookies and Hershey’s brownies were devoured by hungry students and all proceeds went to the isharehappiness - Make A Wish Foundation - fund. What made it even cuter was the fact that the baked goods were called happy pastry! Sugar, no spice, but everything nice! The Happy pastries were in demand even after it's duration. Unfortunately, there were more buyers than there were happy pastries! This only goes to show that good food and good company makes a good experience and we were happy to share it.

Why I do What I do?... How Mostra d'Arte was born?
WIN A BRAND NEW IPOD TOUCH FOR FREE. FIND OUT HOW>>
I love to paint and draw. I love to sing and write. I never really knew why. I never asked myself why until recently. When I feel the urge to draw and paint, I'm usually really moved. I tend to emote through imagery. I’m not the best artist or an expert at visual art but I know what I feel and I like handling paints and sketching pencils. I know deep down that I want to get better. I appreciate what I see. I never had the means to pursue art but God gave me ways of doing what my heart felt joy in doing.
My work was always very private, but I found that when I drew something that other people admired or liked, their smiles made me smile inside too. When I sang it made me smile and when it made others smile, I felt even happier. When I wrote something that touched someone, I was touched as well. It felt very warm at the very core of my chest. I took criticism and improved what title skill I had, and I enjoyed taking to people about their passions and beliefs. I loved the culture of art and the color it brought to my life. It was then that I realized that art and sharing it, teaching it and learning about it from others and helping others develop their own made me so happy. There was something I could do about it. In UA&P I am in the process of developing a Fine Arts student organization where highly art is our end objective. Mostra D'Arte (art exhibition) was developed to give students and outsiders a venue to live the culture of art in all its forms. The organization has been up for one year since the end of 2006, it's gone through many obstacles like loosing founding core member in accidents or relocation to other countries, but despite all that it's still up and will only get better.
That's why I do what I do. I get down but I get up again. Never give up.
Like so many things we need in life, all it takes is a little faith (n_n) cheers.

7 Year-old Boy Gets Wish to Become a 'Priest'
- Pearl, UA&P - I Share Happiness
THE EDSA Shrine, a homage to People Power I that toppled a dictator and venue of People Power II that ousted an impeached president, on Sunday became the place where a young boy battling cancer fulfilled his dream.
Jose Magtanggol "Tanggol" Manalili, 7, got his wish and became a "priest" at the Edsa Shrine, a site declared holy ground by the Vatican two years ago. Tanggol, who suffers from Acute Myelogenous Leukemia M5, joined Auxiliary Bishop Socrates Villegas in celebrating Palm Sunday Mass in the jampacked shrine.
He wore a priest's vestment and cap, and was seated near the altar, along with 15 young girls and boys who were given a day as little nuns and priests.
"He knows his Catholic faith . . . What excites him is not even getting healed but pleasing God and never being separated from Him," Villegas said during his homily, referring to Tanggol. The bishop asked the parishioners to extend their hands to the sick boy and pray for his "total healing." Those who attended the Mass also gave Tanggol a standing ovation.
Even as the attention was focused on him, Tanggol remembered another brother, who was confined at the Philippine General Hospital due to typhoid fever. "I am happy . . . (but) I hope my brother and I will get well," Tanggol said in an interview during a party for him after the Mass. Tanggol is the fourth of six children of Bettina and Hector, who are both active members of the Immaculate Conception parish at the BF Resort in Paranaque. As a tribute to the holy family, two of the children, including Tanggol, were named Jose. Three were named Maria and the youngest was named Jesus.
All are active in the parish either as altar boys or as choir members. Tanggol assists the priests every Sunday, depending on his assignment. "We can't go anywhere because he is sick, so he just goes to church," Bettina said.
Last year, Tanggol stopped schooling. His cancer is in remission, but he has to undergo maintenance chemotherapy every two weeks until 2005. Bettina had to quit her job to attend to Tanggol and use her retirement benefits for her son's medication. Her husband works for Couples for Christ and occasionally brokers car sales. Due to financial difficulties, the family was not able to finance Tanggol's treatment the past years, according to Bettina. This was probably the reason his cancer came back, she said. Tanggol is the 208th kid whose wish was granted by Make-a-Wish, a group dedicated to fulfilling the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses.
Tanggol may also get his other wish. He is scheduled to go to Pizza Hut after a two-hour shopping spree at Toy Kingdom on April 27. He will share the toys with the children in his community as it is also his wish to make his playmates happy.
